Frequently Asked Questions
WHY SHOULD I BUY A SUPER SOCO?
Super Soco’s are environmentally friendly as they do not emit polluting gases like petrol or diesel engines. Running costs are very low compared to petrol motorcycles. A standard NZ 12A plug socket is all that is required to charge the motorcycles.
HOW FAR CAN I GO ON ONE CHARGE?
The range of a Super Soco depends on factors such as road conditions, hills, temperature, the weight of the rider and tyre pressure. Super Soco battery range is set out on the individual model pages. In the CPx, TC (not the TC Max or the CUX) two batteries can be installed for twice the range.
HOW LONG WILL THE BATTERY LAST?
Super Socos batteries are rated to maintain a capacity of 80% of their initial capacity after 2 years. Keeping up with our recommended charging and storage practices will ensure optimum battery life.
HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE THE BATTERY TO CHARGE?
Charging time depends on how depleted the battery is and varies according to model – please refer to the individual model pages and click ‘Technical Specification’. Over the years Super Soco models have received charger upgrades to allow the majority of new models to have a 3.5 – 4 hour recharge time.
HOW DO I BEST CARE FOR THE BATTERY IN MY SUPER SOCO?
Your Super Soco battery needs to be charged for at least 2 hours every 8 weeks, whether you are using your Super Soco or not. To ensure a long battery service life, it should never be drained completely while driving, and after use you should charge the battery when it reaches 20% or lower. Your Super Soco dealership will provide you with in-depth information on how best to care for your battery. We ask customers to carefully review these documents, along with the model owner’s manual.
HOW OFTEN DO I NEED TO SERVICE MY SUPER SOCO?
It is essential for the safety of you and your Super Soco that you get it regularly serviced at your nearest Super Soco dealership. All Super Soco models have a required first service, then subsequent services, at certain KMs travelled or time (whichever comes first). Please refer to your Super Soco’s included owner’s manual, or check with your nearest Super Soco dealership, for the specific service schedule for your model.
DO I NEED A LICENCE TO RIDE A SUPER SOCO ON NZ PUBLIC ROADS?
Our CUX and TC (Not the TC Max) models are classed as “Moped” or “LA Class” and can be ridden with a valid car driver’s licence and do not require regular warrant of fitness inspections.
Our TC Max and CPx are classed as motorcycles and are LAMs certified, meaning they can be ridden using any valid motorcycle licence. Please refer to the following website for more information.
